Thinking about your health and fitness? Go for it!
When it comes to your personal health and fitness, where you work out and how you work out does make a difference. According to Ryan Leffel, owner of the newly opened goPerformance & Fitness in Parsippany, NJ, the facilities and programs offered at his club are anything but what you find in a typical health club: “Whether you are new to fitness or a seasoned athlete, we provide the professional recommendations you need and introduce you to what we feel is a better way to exercise.”
The desire for results is always key to the decision to join to a health club. What the goPerformance concept does best is help people get the results they seek. goPerformance has successfully avoided the boredom-factor barrier to working out like spending countless hours on an exercise machine. Instead, goPerformance has structured workouts that are challenging and offer something different every time you come in to the club. No two sessions are the same, and that cultivates a high level of interest among its members. “By changing your workout each time, your body is constantly challenged,” says Ryan Leffel. ”You don’t get bored mentally or physically.”
goPerformance helps members set individual health and fitness goals and employs a targeted approach to ensure they achieve them. Support, guidance, education and encouragement from a staff of fitness professionals keep the member engaged and motivated to succeed.
If all this sounds too serious for the uninitiated fitness wannabe, just think climbing ropes, Olympic lifting platforms, sand bags, tires, sleds and kettle bells! Many more fitness toys make this performance style of training a fresh, new and exciting way to work out.
“We want our clients to be ’entertained with fitness’ in a manner that keeps them involved in fitness and sports, and continue to live an active lifestyle well into their adult lives,” Ryan Leffel says. “Our goal is more than just creating a new member, it’s to create a new lifestyle through our philosophies of exercising, nutrition, and taking care of their body.”
The original goPerformance opened in Nashville Tennessee in 2006. It was designed to offer the latest in fitness and performance training in a single facility. It didn’t take long for other fitness professionals to take notice of this unique concept and goPerformance has now been licensed in six cities. While they do offer a basic ”club usage” membership, the philosophy is that members will benefit far more by being involved in one of their many training and nutritional programs and working with a fitness coach in a small group or one-on-one setting.
goPerformance offers a free 7-day trial that allows you to experience first hand what the club has to offer without any obligation. You will have the opportunity to take part in a guest fitness assessment to evaluate your fitness level and provide valuable feedback for the staff to recommend the right regimen for you. You will also receive an orientation to some goPerformance’s unique training equipment and exercise philosophies that are sure to challenge and rejuvenate your passion for fitness and performance! Go for it!

Morris County will be hosting its first ”Citizens Call to Service” on Wednesday, Oct. 20, to raise awareness of volunteer opportunities for citizens who would like to become involved in their county and local governments.
The event is free and will be conducted from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Public Safety Training Academy, 500 West Hanover Ave., in Parsippany.
The groundwork for the Call to Service was established by the Morris County Freeholders earlier this year when the board adopted a resolution vowing to help inform citizens about non-elected, volunteer public service opportunities that may be available at the county and local levels of government.
Following a short program, citizens attending the Call to Service will be able to network with representatives of various county government committees, commissions, boards and authorities to learn about and apply for appropriate volunteer opportunities that may exist and that they may be qualified to fill.
Local governments have been invited to participate as well to recruit and educate the public about public service positions that may exist at the municipal level.
The county is partnering in this initiative with the Citizens Campaign, the Volunteer Management Center, and the Morris County Chamber of Commerce.
More information about the Morris County Citizens Call to Service may be obtained by calling the Morris County Administrator’s Office at 973-285-6040.
