  • Kathy Mulholland commented on the blog post Freehold Township Teen Pledges to Keep Drivers Safe: Video   1 year, 7 months ago · View

Safe driving among young (i.e., beginner) drivers isn’t going to happen because of graduated licenses, limiting passengers, or stupid red stickers. It will happen when there’s a CULTURE SHIFT among the student population where driving skill, decision-making and precision are valued over being cool, being constantly tuned-in to the latest gossip/news, or believing the laws [...]

Thumbnail Cadette/Senior Girl Scout Troop 66 of Freehold conducted a Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Sacajawea Day Camp’s Program Activity Center in Farmingdale last Monday. Over 175 “unserviceable” American Flags were given a respectful end after a ceremony acknowledging the important role the flags had played. Old, faded or damaged flags were collected by the Teen [...]

There was a time that Norkus Foodtown and ShopRite Foodarama were viewed as the mega-stores/competition for the mom & pop groceries….just like the Freehold Raceway Mall drew customers from Monmouth Mall and more local department stores (most of which no longer exist). I imagine many consumers in this area will do a “blend” of shopping….I [...]

Mr. Goldstein, please call 1-866-DHS-2-ICE to report immigration or customs violations…if you’re indeed so dissatisfied with the “failure of the federal government to act.”

Though I doubt they’ll be using a “Boro” police car to do that in Marlboro (picture). :)

  • It’s always nice to see you at the Library; I’m sure you’ll enjoy meeting Jayanti if you can make it. :)

  • Way back in September, when the Kathy Mulholland asked the volunteers of the Freehold Public Library’s “Teen Library Committee” (TLC) what they wanted to do this year, one of the things on their list was “meet a real author.” Well, you don’t get much more “real” than the author of a memoir…especially a memoir as [...]

  • Kathy Mulholland commented on the blog post Volunteering fun and rewarding   2 years, 1 month ago · View

I’ve been a Girl Scout leader for about 13 years. You meet the most extraordinary people by volunteering with Scouts, as well as gain skills and build confidence. Sometimes someone will say, “Oh, I’m too busy to do that.” The fact is, all Scouting volunteers are BUSY PEOPLE! The truth is, people MAKE time for [...]

  • Kathy Mulholland commented on the blog post Henry Hudson Trail Named Best for NJ Biking   2 years, 1 month ago · View

This is a very nice trail; the most convenient parking/access area from the Freehold/southern trail area is from the John L. Montgomery Home (Dutch Lane Road) parking area. It is well-signed from there.

  • Kathy Mulholland commented on the blog post Newman Appointed to County Horse Racing Committee

I’m sure horseracing is important economically, historically, and as a way of perserving “open space” and supporting the agricultural industry. However, the…seediness…that often accompanies the industry (drinking, gambling, certain business practices) don’t do much to endear the industry to me. Of course, I’m generalizing and operating on perhaps unsupported impressions. But I’d [...]

  • Kathy Mulholland commented on the blog post Market Yard’s Unseen: Helping the Homeless in Freehold Borough

I’ve lived in the Borough for many years and have never been approached by someone directly asking for money in the “Market Yard Woman” fashion; however, the legendary generosity of Freehold residents, plus its convenient location for transportation, as well as the ready-availability of social services/ministries must make it feel like something of a magnet [...]

  • Kathy Mulholland commented on the blog post Twp Resident Wants More Citizen Involvement

Freedom (very cool name…mine is just boring old Kathy) and Mike: I think getting information out to the wider community, Borough or Township, is a good idea, especially as there are so many information outlets to make this easy now. Simply keeping a listing (with descriptions) of opportunities for service doesn’t sound like too [...]
