One of the best parts about joining InJersey is that you can also become a contributor to any of our towns. Not only can you post news, you can also upload photos, embed your own videos, and add events to the calendar.
Need a few more specifics about what exactly to do? We've created this page as a handy little cheat-sheet to guide you through some of the steps.
Keep in mind that InJersey uses a software called WordPress to create and edit content, so many of the tutorials we're using here are from WordPress.tv, an excellent resource if you're looking for more instruction. (Forgive the distinctly un-Jersey accent in most of the clips.)

If you haven't already seen our short overview of the features and design of InJersey, be sure to watch this clip. Each town on InJersey can be linked to off the map on the injersey.com homepage, or by adding the town name at the beginning of the URL: e.g. freehold.injersey.com.
Currently, to use all of the writing, editing, and uploading functions of InJersey, you need to join the site and log into the backend. You can log in using the "Log in" fields or link at the top of the site, or the log in box on any of the town-site sidebars.
Register for the site by clicking the "Sign up" link at the top of any of the InJersey pages, or the "Sign up" link in the sidebar of any of the town sites. You'll be taken to a short registration page where you fill out your username, email address, and password. Next, an email will be sent to you to confirm your registration. Click on that link to activate your account.
When you return to InJersey, you can log in using the links at the top of the site or in the town-site sidebars.
Make your first post by logging into the site and using the navigation bar at the top to pick your town and then select "New Post" from there.

That'll take you straight into the editing screen where you can compose your first post. This short video summarizes some of the key features of the post-editor.
Photos are one of the best ways to get your news and posts noticed by other residents in your town. We encourage everyone to try to include at least one photo with each of their posts.
To add an event to the site's event calendar (and as a post in the main content window), simply log into your town's site, then click on "Events Calendar" on the left. From there you'll see a large calendar with the current month's events. Scroll down to find a series of fields you can fill out to add your new event. Be sure to fill out as many of the fields as possible. And don't forget to check off "Create Post for Event" if you'd like to have an article about the event posted to the site, too.

POSTING AN ISSUE TO THE FIXER-UPPER MAP
You can create a public record of civic problems like potholes, graffiti, broken street lights, or vandalized playgrounds in your town by clicking on any of our Fixer-Upper maps, which are powered by SeeClickFix. Get to the maps by clicking on the Fixer-Upper links at the top of the town sites, or by going to any of the following links: Cherry Hill | Collingswood | Flemington | Freehold | Madison | Vineland
Once on the map page, you can add a new complaint, join in existing complaints, or create a watch list for your area.
To report a new issue:
1. Click on the location of the problem in the map.
2. Fill out the form that pops up. Be sure to include as many details as you can. Upload a photo if you have one.
If you see something that's already posted that you want to echo:
1. Click on the problem's marker.
2. Click "I want this fixed too!" to sign up for e-mail alerts on the issue. Click "comments / close ticket" to add your comment, a picture, or to report the issue has been fixed.
Finally, you can create a watch list by outlining a geographical area you're interested in and subscribing to get new issues sent to you via email. Simply draw the area on a Google map using our tool, then attach your e-mail address.
